Lions in Springfield, IL

I am sure many images run through your mind reading the title…..and yes there are Lions in Springfield. Not the large cat variety, I hasten to add, but the kind, caring Lions Club International variety who are working hard to serve the community.  Lions Clubs International is a service membership organization, who’s motto is ”We Serve”.  Their aim is to create a spirit of understanding among the people of the world and promote good citizenship.

The Lions seem to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.  Lions are ordinary people who try to  do extraordinary things to help others and support good causes. Reaching out to those that need help, they focus on five areas with one of them being vision, which is very close to our hearts.

On June 1 a free Low Vision technology fair is being presented at 2600 South MacArthur Blvd, Springfield, by the Illinois Assistive Technology Program & the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind & Visually Impaired. The Lions Club are offering hearing and vision tests, there are various exhibitors and an awesome door prize being supplied by the Bierley Vision Club.

Enjoy listening to the speakers and have lunch. The day starts at 9.00am- 2.00pm, to RSVP for lunch call 800-852-5110.

If on the other hand, you are unable to attend the Fair and you are looking for a simple and easy to use magnifier you need travel no further than our web site www.bierley.com or www.bierleymagnifiers.com to see to read again.
